The teeth of your dog are really important as they use them much more than we do.In the wild they will chew on raw bones and that keeps their teeth clean and in good condition. By scraping the plaque and tartar off and removing soft meat stuck between their teeth.
Canned Food is usually soft in comparison to what a wild dog would eat and does not give him or her the roughage and teeth cleaning that they would get naturally.

One of the things that you can help with is by supplying him or her with Tripe Sticks.
Just a warning though – they smell foul to us – but dogs love them.
Dried tripe sticks are fairly hard and do a great job of naturally cleaning your pets teeth. Rawhide Bones work almost as well but I find that they make my spaniels hyperactive.
Both of these do a great job but if your pet still has problems with teeth then brush them with a toothbrush and canine toothpaste (human toothpaste sometimes has sugar and that would rot the canine teeth),
3 or 4 times a week is suggested and this will also massage the gums and rid the teeth of old food between them.

Dogs usually get a teeth inspection when they have their annual checkup and shots and your vet will advise on any problems that might be there.
Do not ignore any oral problems your dog has as early cleaning or treatment is not only better for the dog but it is also easier on your bank balance..
