The Gordon Setter grows into quite a large dog.
An older breed, the Gordon Setter is primarily a Gundog (or Sporting Dog) and is often used to retrieve game birds at shoots.
It is a little slow to mature and acts like a puppy until it is about three years old.
Which is fun but not too sensible sometimes.
They have a habit of wandering off suddenly in search of a fascinating scent quite oblivious to any danger they may be in.
You should not over-exercise a puppy and this will avoid the joint and hip problems that Godons can be prone to in later life.

Gordon Setters are incredibly loyal to their owner but both puppies and adult dogs can be a bit boisterous. Perhaps not really suited to a family with very young children as they are a bit strong-willed and need to be taught who is boss !
