I actually hate Ticks.
The prospect of removing one from my Spaniel is really gross.
To remove a tick you must grasp it firmly without squeezing it and then twist the body anti-clockwise.
With any luck the tick will come off in your hand while you try to remember where you put a plastic box to put it into...
If you do not do this skilfully, you will be left with the body of the tick and the head will remain under the skin of your pet until the natural immune system ejects it.
Nasty Huh ?
Ticks often have Lyme Disease which they pick up from Deer. This can pass on to your pets or even to you !
Gosh I am itching even while I write this.
The answer is a proprietary tick remedy .
These are usually either sprays or a one drop system that protects a pet for several months.
When a pet is attacked by a tick the tick just bites the pet and the tick dies shortly after and falls off. The same remedies also protect against fleas.
